All About Waxing!

'I was asked by a friend of mine about waxing and there is TONS to know about it so I will be telling all about waxing tips and tricks for pain, proper procedures and also some recommended products for men and women. Waxing is not for all ages and skin types, if you have allergies, diabetes, take any medications, if skin has varicose veins or very thin and sensitive I would not recommend waxing. Your skin should be is the best condition possible to wax. Wax can take time to do but in the long run the hair doesn't grow back as fast as shaving, but there are many precautions to waxing whether your going to a salon or doing it at home. Over time waxing can damage the hair follicle, and cause the hair to stop growing. An average wax will last anywhere from 2 weeks to 5 weeks maybe even longer depending on how fast your hair grows. Keep In Mind:

Waxing will cause some pain! In order to get a good wax you need about a quarter of an inch, 3-4 weeks of growth so that the wax can grab onto the hairs and actually pull them out. It is not as easy as it looks and some who are new to waxing can find it very messy, taking a lot of time and quite difficult. You want to get the full hair from the root because it can cause breakage and that can effect future growth. Do not re-wax if you find that you missed some hair because the skin can because very irritated and also cause bleeding, if you tend to find some hairs that the wax didn't get and they are frustrating you then your best bet is to use tweezers or shaving. The lack of knowledge and cleanliness can be very dangerous, like double-dipping your stick back into the wax can cause bacteria to grow or spread disease and your putting that bacteria back onto your skin so be sure to have plenty of application sticks. When you start waxing at a young age it can tend to hurt a lot less because the hairs on the body are also young and thinner. Waxing can be a great exfoliator but don't stop there be sure to exfoliate before and after the waxing process to ensure your pores don't clog and ingrown hairs.

Don'ts: 

You have to keep your health in mind, so if you have diabetes, cancer (or cancer treatments), lupas or AIDS any health concern I would definitely contact your doctor about waxing first. Don't apply face toner before waxing areas on the face, toner tightens your pores and this will tighten the hold on your hair follicles. Women should never wax during their menstrual cycle because the skin is very sensitive during that time. Caffeine and liquor is not a good idea before waxing because they may 'feel good' for the moment but whats really happening is they put stimulants into your system making your skin more sensitive in the long run, so grabbing a bottle of water would be a better idea. Do not ice the skin, it acts just as a toner tightening the pores giving a tighter grip on the hair follicles. For about a week before deciding to wax you should try lowing your acid intake, another thing that makes the skin sensitive so instead of orange juice or caffeine, water would be the best decision.

Pain Helpers:

Some doctors say numbing cream can help with waxing pain. The most efficient way to reduce the pain of waxing is for about a week before waxing drink lots of water, it will hydrate and strengthen the skin. Also if you wax in smaller proportions and giving a little tap on the area after the wax will help because the body doesn't recognize two pains at once.
